The Big Sleep In at The Mall Chequers Has Raised a fantastic £2,178.61 for homeless people!

Around 160 Cub Scouts held a sponsored sleep in at the Chequers Centre to raise the money for homeless and vulnerable people at Maidstone Day Centre. We were delighted when a group of the children and their leaders arrived at the Day Centre bearing a giant cheque for £1,640.11 but it got even better over the next few weeks with more cheques in the post making a grand total of £2,178.61

A big thank you to all the Cub Scouts and their leaders for such a tremendous effort to raise money for homeless people in Maidstone.

The event marked the official launch of the Kent Messenger’s Christmas Appeal, You Can Help. The campaign has now finished and we would like to thank all the supermarkets, volunteers and the KM for all their contributions of food which will help us to come to the aid of hungry people in Maidstone over this winter period.

Our letter to the Kent Messenger

o the Kent Messenge

On behalf of everyone at Maidstone Day Centre, I would like to say a huge thank you to all the people who have supported us over Christmas and the New Year. We are tremendously grateful to all the Cub Scouts for their very generous donation of  which they raised with a sponsored sleep which launched the Kent Messenger’s ‘You Can Help’ Christmas Appeal. Our thanks to all the supermarkets and their customers who took part in the campaign and contributed so generously; a special thank you to Richard Leech  and his band of volunteers for the mammoth  task of collecting and sorting all the  tins and packets for our food store.

To all those people who pressed the Donate button on our website, thank you for helping our work to continue.

And finally, thank you so much to the KM for not only hosting the Christmas campaign but for raising awareness of Maidstone Day Centre and homelessness.
